A Jubilee Budalangi parliamentary aspirant has accused Jubilee party of rigging her out in the Jubilee primaries in favour of a male aspirant, Alfred Ajuma Maloba.
Tables turned on Mediatrix Wangira, Monday, after she was denied the Jubilee nomination ticket despite her, beating her competitor.
“It is only in Jubilee where nomination losers are awarded certificates. I beat my opponent in the nominations by garnering 5,489 votes against 5,066. I am shocked that the party is handing the certificate over to him instead of me,” lamented Wangira as she broke into tears.
Addressing the press, the hopeful called on President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto ensure justice is served.
“I am appealing to the president and his deputy to look for justice. I beat him in the nomination and in the case he filed to confirm I am the bona fide candidate to carry the party’s banner. Why would the party make such an unprecedented move? Is it because I am a woman?” Wangira wondered.
She alleged a personal assistant to gubernatorial aspirant, Daniel Barasa had given instructions to the police to ensure she did not receive the certificate.
However, Barasa refuted the claims noting that the matter was already sorted by the National Election Board.
“The certificate should be given to the right person .I am ready to face male candidates in August 8 parliamentary contest,” she noted.
