In order to elevate entrepreneurial ventures in Kenya, the African Centre for Women Information and Communications Technology (ACWICT) has joined forces with Facebook to roll out its Boost Your Business Initiative for female entrepreneurs throughout the country.

The initiative is a pilot programme aimed at giving young female entrepreneurs an opportunity to gain most up-to-date tools, insights, and best practices on Facebook and Instagram to improve the outreach of their business enterprises.

The initiative seeks to provide free training to 1000 young female entrepreneurs between ages 18-35yrs in Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru and Mombasa.

The training will mix Facebook’s curriculum with integrated interpersonal interaction activities to enhance understanding of the skills learnt.

The Boost Your Business programme is also being rolled out in Kenya for both male and female entrepreneurs by Africa 118.

ACWICT, an ICT for development organization, came in as the implementing partner. The organization has wide experience in implementing successful entrepreneurship trainings and youth employability programs targeting high potential but disadvantaged young people.

“The Boost Your Business Initiative, as designed by Facebook, could not have come at a better time, for the future of business growth in Africa lies in the ability to leverage on digital marketing platforms. This is an opportunity that every woman entrepreneur must run with, as the initiative is providing them ability to reach potential customers at the right time with comparatively reduced costs,” says Ms. Constantine Obuya, Executive Director ACWICT.

To foster social media marketing skills amongst young entrepreneurs, ACWICT has been integrating digital marketing in all its youth employability initiatives.

Since its inception there has been a positive response from young entrepreneurs who are continuously enrolling for the training programs to upgrade their skills in social media marketing.
