The incident which took place on Wednesday evening saw the woman in question stripped by workers in the supermarket to recover the cosmetic product worth Sh120.

The young woman was unlucky as the hawk-eyed attendants intercepted her as she tried to leave the shop in a huff.

One of the shop attendants who sought anonymity told this reporter that the woman was in the company of her colleague who was lucky to escape with a pack of cooking fat.

"This is not the only incident we have witnessed of shoplifting although we have tried to fine the suspects heavily as we did to this latest suspect," said the shop attendant.

The proprietor who also declined to be named indicated that due to lack of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installation in the shop, it was a challenge to monitor customer movements.

He said it was especially challenging during rush hours, in the evenings when shoppers with ill motives take advantage of the busy attendants to steal different items that can be easily hidden.

He says the retail outlet has recorded losses due to increased cases of shoplifting.
