According to a press release by Ingwe, the match, planned for Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday, will go on as planned, and that FKF will not stop them from going on with their plans.

“The National Executive Committee would like to state that preparations for the Derby match slated for 26th May 2018 are in top gear and the match is on. The match dubbed ‘LeopardsHomecoming is set ot be played at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakemega county,” read part of the statement, which was signed by Oscar Igaida, the Secretary-General.

“We have already paid for the stadium and tickets are being printed. Entry fee will be Sh200 and Sh500 for terraces and VIP respectively,” it added.

The team said it will not release their players for the tournament, saying they are preparing for other tournaments including the Super Cup set to be played early in June.

According to FKF President Nick Mwendwa, the match should not take place, in order to give Harambee Stars Head Coach Migne time to work with his players, 13 of whom play for Gor and AFC.

Last week, the new Harambee coach was forced to name part of his squad, as he gave time for Gor players who were involved in different matches. The team is in camp preparing for upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
