Jubilee Party’s campaign team in Coast region has moved to quash rumours that there are wrangles within the party.
Speaking during a press conference, Tourism CS Najib Balala and Suleiman Shahbal denied that they were at loggerheads on who should lead coalition’s campaigns.
Trouble started last week on Friday when Deputy President William Ruto picked Balala to lead the team, a decision that seemed to anger Shahbal’s team.
Shahbal was subsequently heckled during the meeting, which led to talk of a rift in the region.
“There won't be two teams. There will be only one team which must go to the grassroots,” said Balala.
He added: “Anybody who wants Uhuru to win must not discuss whose side they are on. I recognize Shahbal as the leader in Mombasa, but we must work for inclusion of other members”.
The two leaders went on to urge their supporters to ensure they work together and maintain peace, as this is the only way to guarantee Jubilee a win.
The Jubilee team had been accused of laxity going into the general elections in August, with the area mainly voting for the Nasa team.
