The number of youths enrolling for education in technical and vocational education institutions has gone down compared to other years.
Education PS Dinah Mwinzo said this is the main cause why the technical and vocational education institutions don't use the money given to them.
'We have been allocating millions of shillings to the students in the institutions but they have do not exploited the funds. We sometimes wonder if there are some youths who want to study out there. There is an opportunity but it's shocking that the youths don't want to enroll," Mwinzi said.
The PS was speaking while presiding over the official launch of the third edition of the Africa Tech Challenge at Intercontinental Hotel.
She said that only a quarter of the funds allocated to students in technical and vocational education and training were used in the last financial year.
However, Mwinzo called on youths to come out in large numbers and enroll to different vocational institutions this financial year. She said that money should not be a problem since there is enough funds from the government to cater for their education.
