Speaking to this writer on Saturday morning, Josephine Moraa  Nyangusu, a resident serving a three year imprisonment for circumcising her three daughters in 2013, urged women not to allow their daughter to go for a cut.

“I have come to come to learn dangers of FGM and I would like to urge women not to allow their daughters to be circumcised,” said Moraa.

She further notes that she would not like women to go through what she has experienced for practicing something which does not add value to anybody.

Moraa said she has hard life in prison and her children are missing her love as a parent.

"I would like to urge parents to support girl child pursue their dreams because they have the potential to accomplish much with support,” said Moraa.

However, she said, she forgave her father in law who reported her to the police after taking her girls for a cut.

“I was reported to the police by my father in law immediately after I have taken my three girls for the illegal practice,” narrates Moraa.

“Of course, at first I felt so bad that my father in law had reported me but at the same time she has helped me. I am now more enlightened,” says Moraa.

She said that the practice infringes girl child rights hence urging women to be in front line campaigning against it.

“This is our time as women to a rise and fight for girls’ rights. FGM is evil, it destroys girl's child life,” concludes Moraa.
