The Ficha Uchi campaign has made a move to the famous Nairobi slums to help cloth school going children from underprivileged families.
Using it’s official Facebook page, the campaign spread the word and is set to go on in Kibera until they reach all school going children without proper clothing. In the initiative, community members are taught how they can ensure their kids get decent clothing.
Launched by Billian Ojiwa, the campaign is a nationwide exercise that seeks to restore the dignity of primary schools pupils going with tattered clothes. The group randomly selects and visits schools from the low-class areas to identify those pupils most in need. They then take their measurements and, thereafter, deliver the school uniforms after a couple of days.
The Ficha Uchi campaign is fully funded by members and donor contributions in the form of fabrics and sewing materials after which they engage local tailors endorsed by parents and teachers who then help stitch the uniforms at a price half their usual charges.
On Saturday, the Ficha Uchi Campaign was hosted at Ayany Primary school in Kibera slums.
