The Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya has weighed in on President Uhuru Kenyatta over his partial cabinet nominations.
The Executive Director of FIDA Teresa Atieno, who spoke to KTN in the morning, said it was shocking on what the president did.
“I must say it was the most shocking news. We have been challenged many times to get competent women and the list is endless of women who could do it.
“We are very worried, and this is one of the issues we want to take up with the president to know what exactly he is thinking,” she added.
She further defended the women who served in government in President Kenyatta’s first term government.
“Even the cabinet secretaries he had, you can’t say all the six failed, and that they did not deliver. There are women out of the six who did very well and were retained. So what criteria was the president using?”
Kenyatta announces his first batch of secretaries last week on Friday and is set to release his last batch in the coming days.
Many have shown their disapproval for the no inclusion of women in the first batch, and focus will now be on the president when he announces his second batch.
