Property worth millions of shilling was on Thursday afternoon razed down after fire broke out in Kibuye Market in Kisumu. The fire razed down close to 60 stalls in that market with traders’ efforts of putting out fire proving futile. According the traders, the fire started from one of the stalls before spreading to the extreme ends of the market. The traders that spoke to this writer however expressed their dissatisfactions with the fire extinguishers, accusing them of responding late after the broke out. They however said the market is still prone to such dangers if proper measures of controlling such fires will not be adhered to by the relevant bodies. The fire that took close to two hours before it was eventually put out left scores of traders stranded. Confirming the incident, Kisumu County Commander Nelson Njiri said they’ve launched investigations into the matter to ascertain the root cause of the fire.
