Fifteen people were over the weekend arrested at Makongeni National Oil stage area in Thika, Kiambu county. 

The fifteen were accused of stealing and snatching women bags in the area. 

Confirming the incident, Thika West OCPD Willy Simba said police arrested the group after public outcry over increased mugging in the town. 

Simba called on the residents to report to police in case they see a motorcycle being operated without number plates. 

He noted that such motorcycles were mostly used by criminals for getaway thieving purposes.

Simba assured the locals that security would be beefed up around matatu terminus while noting that the area has turned into a hideout for criminal gangs.
