The Wrigley Company Foundation has resolved to support the Kenya Drought Operation with a donation of Kshs. 2 million.
The project is being spearheaded by the Kenya Red Cross.
KRCS issued a drought appeal that previously sought Kshs. 1 billion to support 340,786 people which has since been revised to Kshs. 2.5 billion to cater for 1 million people across 13 counties, in light of the dramatic increase in the number of people now in need of food assistance.
“The impact of the drought has been felt across the nation for individuals, businesses and the country at large and we are proud this donation from the Wrigley Company Foundation will support efforts to help those in great need,” said Wrigley’s Corporate Affairs Director – Africa, Wanja Mwangi.
Her Excellency the First Lady of Kenya, Margaret Kenyatta received the cheque on behalf of the Kenya Red Cross Society.
“We are reminded of the generosity and unity that exists within our borders by the sheer number of people and organizations that have stepped up and taken it upon themselves to ease the burden facing fellow countrymen,” she said.
