Kisii county leaders have been challenged to support education more so the Kisii University.
Addressing residents on Monday at Nyosia in Nyaribari Chache during the burial of Mama Esther Nyaboke wife to Mzee Simeon Nyachae, Kisii Diocese Bishop Joseph Mairura urged the leaders present to support the education sector across the county.
Mairura challenged leaders to be in the forefront of fighting against the closer of Kisii University branches which was announced to be closed by the Ministry of Education.
This comes after the Commission for University Education (CUE) ordered the closure of 10 out of 13 Kisii University campuses in the western, Nyanza and Rift Valley regions which to Mairura will affect the education standards across the county.
“I call upon the leaders to fight against the closer of Kisii University branches which has been playing a key role in educating our students,” he said
Mairura also hailed Mzee Nyachae for the crucial role he is playing in making sure that the Kisii University is fully supported.
“I have come to send my attributes to the family since Mzee Nyachae has been playing key roles more so in supporting education, as he has lost his wife let God help him and give him strength,” Mairura said.
He also challenged the county government to build a chaplain center for spiritual nourishment and education purposes.
He urged youths to distance them from alcohol and drug abuse which will not benefit them
