Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has said he is ready to risk his political career in a bid to defend the county's resources.
This comes amid reports of a Sh51 million scandal in the county's departments of finance and health.
The outspoken governor has threatened to send home 10 top county officials over the mismanagement of the funds.
Speaking in Kadaina Island in Kilifi North on Monday, the governor said he will ensure the officials are brought to book if found culpable.
“I will never tolerate such issues of corruption in my government, and I want you (the people of Kilifi) to assist me in uprooting this weed in the government,” said Kingi, as quoted by Baraka FM.
The governor said he is not afraid of becoming unpopular among his political friends in the fight against graft.
“I know when I take such actions people will come to me saying it would spoil my politics, I am telling you that I am ready to lose the political goodwill but safeguard the people’s resources,” added Kingi.
