In Kibera slums, a number of young people are using photography and film production to tell their own stories.
To make this encounter much fulfilling, Filamu Juani an initiative that means 'films made under the sun', has been empowering young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds through photography and video production.
And as evidence on how the photographer girls' lifestyles have changed, some of the young people have already secured jobs as film makers and photographers.
According to Lilian Mueni, one of the beneficiaries of the Filamu Juani initiative, her life has fully changed as she has commercialised her skills.
"I am happy to have learnt these skills. I can now be invited to events to shoot ceremonial videos and photos," she said.
Though she said there are a number of challenges involved in photography, she hopes to further her skills to open her own firm when time matures.
"I intend to start my firm in future. The benefits are sweet and just enough,’’ said the young photographer.
