The Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB) is lobbing MPs to pass a law creating a special police unit to fight child pornography.KFCB also wants to be given powers to arrest and prosecute perpetrators of child pornography. The boards Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua said foreigners visiting the country to engage in child pornography should be deported.Mutua's call comes five months after he warned tourists visiting the country with intent to shoot pornographic videos. He said in October 2016 that KFCB was collaborating with police and county commissioners from Coast region where sex tourism is on the rise, to investigate and prosecute individuals involved in the vise.“We have information that some tourists are shooting pornographic videos here,” Mutua said then in Mombasa.“We ask county commissioners to give us support especially in this area to ensure pornographic movies are not produced in private apartments.”KFCB has already engaged Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko's offices over the matter.Sources say the the two offices have positively responded. The Board in early April presented the idea to Parliament's Labour and Social Welfare Committee.KFCB wants the special police unit established before Parliament is dissolved ahead of the August 8 poll.
