The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has launched a crackdown on public vehicles that show unclassified video content to passengers.
Speaking in Kisii University on Wednesday, KFCB boss in Nyanza, Edward Koech said that the exercise had already kicked off in Kisii and Kisumu counties.
"We decided to take this action after we received numerous complains from the public that most matatus were showing unfit content. He said that all materials being shown in the matatus should be classified and rated by the board," he said.
According to him, the unclassified content is being watched by youths which he termed as 'improper.'
He asked matatu owners to obey the rule or else face prosecution saying that the penalty will attract a five year imprisonment.
