Investigators have revealed the final moments that led to the crash of a police helicopter in Mathare area 11 days ago.
According to the investigators who addressed the Star, the pilot of the helicopter was unqualified and the crash occurred due to interference by a marabou stork bird.
The pilot is said to have lacked knowledge on how to respond when the bird flew near the plane. It is alleged that the pilot failed to respond appropriately when the bird flew dangerously close to the plane.
The pilot is said to have pushed the wrong lever leading to losing of power by the aircraft which later stalled and crashed.
Reports reveal the air crash was being controlled by Inspector Dennis IOduk and his colleague Inspector Martin Ndungu.
The two were considered not to be competent enough to pilots of the aircraft but were allowed to serve as co-pilots by the plane's Italian manufacturer.
investigators conducting a probe into the crash have already interviewed the four occupants of the plane but the two pilots are said to have claimed that they no longer remember anything from the crash.
