This comes hardly days after Raila told off Ruto over Mau according to media reports.

Though he did not mention Raila Odinga by name, it was clear to all and sundry who was being referred to.

''Matters around conservation, matters around degradation, matters around forestation are very serious matters. They are not matters for photo ops and publicity stunts as we have seen in the past. What we have seen in the past is people going to Mau and making big statements and leaving,'' Deputy President William Ruto.

Mr. Ruto said that environmental conservation would be done in the most humane way possible.

The Mau issue led to the acrimonious fallout between Raila Odinga and William Ruto in the lead-up to the 2013 elections.

Ruto had argued then that the Raila-led Mau-evictions were inhumane and morally indefensible.

The outspoken Deputy President invited the media to scrutinise his record on environmental issues.

He spoke today during a press conference today at his Karen office.
