Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Dr. Fred Matiang'i has weighed in on the shocking video that showed a police officer stepping on a suspect in Industrial Area.

Matiang'i said that he was as outraged as other Kenyans after watching the video, revealing that he had reached out to the Inspector General Joseph Boinett.

''I am not denying that we don't have challenges. We do... I don't think the IG tolerates the mistakes made by police officers. I was very angry, to be honest when I saw the video of a police officer stepping on a suspect. I was as outraged as every other Kenyan. I spoke to the Inspector General and I know that he has taken action,'' Dr. Matiang'i said.

The tough-talking Cabinet Secretary spoke today in Nairobi during the Inaugural Annual National Policing Conference.

Matiang'i's tough words amid criticism aimed at the police over brutality.

He said that there was a need to purge the force of errant officers.
