The government has launched a website aimed at linking job seekers to existing employment and internship opportunities within their counties as well as across the country.Addressing the media during the launch Wednesday at KICC in Nairobi, East African Community and Labour Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie said that the portal, dubbed Kenya Labour Market Information System (KLMIS), was a one-stop shop for labour information in the country.“Through the National Employment Agency and in partnership with the private sector, job seekers will be able to register and upload their CVs and apply for the same, free of charge. The ministry will ensure that every young person seeking employment is identified by carrying out a continuous county level registration process through the KLMIS Platform,” said Ms Kandie.“The system is designed to provide timely, relevant and reliable information to the public that would be useful in strengthening linkages between industry and training institutions, development and centralization of the national human resource database; strategic workforce investment strategies such as training, recruitment, remuneration and social protection,” she added.“President Uhuru Kenyatta has repeatedly emphasised that the next 5 years of the government will be focused on jobs. We have a goal of on the back of the investments made thus far. To reach this goal, our human resource planning, development and utilisation decisions have to be informed by quality and reliable data,” she said.
