The United States of America Secretary of State and the country's top diplomat Rex Tillerson is on a high-profile visit on the African continent and Kenya will be part of his itinerary.
Tillerson's visit comes in the wake of a mounting political crisis precipitated by disagreements between the ruling Jubilee Party and the opposition coalition the National Super Alliance (NASA).
He is expected to hold bilateral talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta and it is not clear whether he will meet with the opposition's top brass.
Kenya's geopolitical profile has been on the rise in recent days taking leadership in critical areas such as environmental conservation and the fight against terrorism.
Other countries that Mr. Tillerson will visit are Nigeria, Djibouti and Chad, countries ravaged by the threat of terror and corruption.
America's top diplomat will have a lot of explaining to do after President Trump used a vulgar term to describe Africa, triggering outrage from the continent.
