President Uhuru Kenyatta has for the first time weighed in on the controversial nomination of firebrand lawyer and socio-political commentator Miguna Miguna, albeit indirectly.
He said that he was willing to work with every single Kenyan and that he would not be intimidated by anyone.
His words were a direct response to Sonko's request for him not to be intimidated by Miguna's nomination as it had come on the heels of harassment by elements in the national government.
''Governor Sonko has said that I should not be intimidated by anyone about Miguna. I want to tell Governor Sonko that I will not be cowed by anyone. Let this be clear that I am not going to be intimidated by anyone. My interest is working with you governor Sonko to improve the lives of Kenyans,'' a visibly peeved President Uhuru Kenyatta fired.
The president's words are seen by a section of pundits as an endorsement of Sonko's controversial nomination in the face of unease in Jubilee.
Mr Kenyatta spoke Wednesday during the Nairobi Titling Programme.
He said that he would rally behind the County Government of Nairobi to improve the capital city of Kenya.
His words come amid a vicious tussle between Governor Sonko and some elements within the national government.
