The assembly which passed the motion with more than three quarters in support of the same now wants governor Kinuthia Mbugua to approve the motion which might lead to Gatimu's ouster.

He has been accused of mismanaging county resources by failing to oversee collection of revenue and for poor management of collected county funds.

Finance committee chairman Njuguna Gichamu affirmed that only 40% of total revenue in the county has been collected over the past two years, thereby creating constraints in running the county.

“Big flower companies going by confirmed reports sourced by this committee have not remitted cess for the past two years. If these companies are not paying, what will Nakuru County survive on?” Gichamu posed.

“A fee collection gadget in a day is collecting Sh80 and upon scrutiny, we have established that there are transactions of Sh10 being made. We have no transactions of Sh10 in this county,” another committee member added.

However, Elburgon MCA Florence Wambui came to his rescue saying that he should not be victimised alone as there are other offices in the finance ministry.

She said that the failing of the finance CEC is not a one-man thing; “Other officials in the finance ministry are culpable as well. Therefore, they should be placed on the same pedestal."
