The Council of Governors has asked the National Treasury to disburse funds to the counties.
In a letter to the Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich , CoG chair and Turkana governor Josphat Nanok warned that all the 47 counties are staring at a possible financial crisis after the government delaying to release funds.
Governors further demanded that the government releases funds to counties on a monthly basis and no later than the 15 day of the month as the law outlines.
Nanok noted that service delivery in the counties has been hugely affected.
“The continued delay and breach of the law has led to untold suffering for citizens in the counties leading to interrupted delivery of services and stalling of development projects,” the letter dated 10 October said in part.
It was reported that counties have in the past four months been hard hit because of delayed funds from the National government.
