Recently formed Kisumu All Stars Football Club (FC) is likely not to honour their next National Super League (NSL) match owing to the recent financial constraints that have befallen the team.
The Kisumu County sponsored team is set to play an away match against Modern Coast Rangers in Mombasa and the playoff is set for April 3 this year.
Team Manager Benson Basolo said that the team was currently in a tricky situation since they were not certain whether they will be able to secure funds to finance their trip to Mombasa.
Kisumu All Stars team which is hardly three months old was formed by the devolved unit to replace Palos FC who were also driven out of the league due to lack of funding.
Basolo stated that they had to dig in their own pockets to honour their latest match where they edged-out visiting Administration Police 1-0.
“Our players are also yet to receive their salaries and allowances and this may culminate in situations where some may start getting demoralized,” revealed Basolo.
He nonetheless disclosed that the county management had pledged to cater for their accommodation while in the coastal city.
The CeC in-charge of Sports and Culture Achie Alai, when contacted for comment, said that she will make a statement concerning the impending issue soon.
The sportsmen are expected to embark on their journey to Mombasa on March 30 (today).
On the NSL table, they have managed to accrue 17 points and in case they miss out on their match, their rivals Modern Coast Rangers and Western Stima will make greater strides ahead of them.
