Conservationists opposed to the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) through the Nairobi National Park have demanded for the government to find an alternative route for the rail line.
Speaking on Sunday at Mombasa's Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach, Mr Mishal Gudka of Cordio East Africa, argued that the construction of the railway line through the park will endanger the animals and hurt the ecosystem.
Mr Gudka further argues that Nairobi is set to lose its significance if the construction of the line continues using the mapped route.
"Nairobi National Park is likely to lose its significance should plans to build a railway line through it be allowed to proceed. We are saying a firm no and hope our government will heed our calls," he said, as quoted by The Standard.
