Maithya was speaking after traders at Makongeni Market went to the streets protesting over increased levies.

“People must find alternative ways of airing their grievances instead of taking it to the streets and blocking busy roads,” noted Maithya.

Maithya said that the traders are not doing themselves any justice by paralysing business activities in the market since they will bear the consequences.

He said that traders ought to have consulted the county authority through their leaders instead of locking down one of the busiest road in the area.

"Makongeni people should have sent their leaders to the county government and I am sure they would have resolved the conflicts," said Maithya.

He said that causing mayhem in the town was not the best idea to air their grievances.

“We are investigating everything that has been happening and we are going to arrest anyone connected with inciting the traders to this demonstrations,” notes Maithya.
