In the past years there are schools in Gusiiland which were always celebrated for great performance in national examinations but today the schools are unheard of when academic giants are mentioned.
These schools include:Itierio Schools, Kioge Schools, Nyansiongo Boys, Menyenya School, Ichuni School, Kereri School, Kiabonyoru School, Kebabe girls, St Charles Lwanga Nyansabakwa School, Gekano Schools, Cardinal Otunga Mosocho and Nyanchwa Schools among others.
These are schools which were established long time ago and have produced national figures but their fall has been drastic over the years.
One of the most noted reason for their demise is that through too much church influence and too much political influence the schools have fallen down the pecking order when it comes to great academic excellence.
The political leaders and church leaders should allow the schools administrators to have the freedom of running the institutions as this will make the sleeping giants to wake up and claim their rightful place at the top.
