A fire whose cause is yet to be known has burned down a dormitory of a girls’ school in Bobasi, Kisii County.
The mysterious fire destroyed most belongings of students of St Mary’s Nyamagwa Girls high school.
According to acting Kisii County administration police commander Joel Kirui, police officers responded in good time, after being alerted that the fire had started at 6am.
“We rushed to the scene and found the fire had already been contained,” Kirui told the Nation.
“My officers are now in the process of conducting investigations.”
According to witnesses, the students had gone for the morning Mass at the local Catholic church when the fire started.
This comes days after students at the neighbouring Nyamagwa Boys secondary school set a dorm at the school on fire to protest poor results.
