A huge fire has consumed property worth thousands of shillings at the Trans Afric Timber company in Nakuru town’s Industrial Area.
The Wednesday afternon fire, whose cause is yet to be established, started at around 1.30pm from the company’s manufacturing section.
The assistant manager in charge of the affected block, Sammy Murage, said that no one was injured during the incident.
''All supervisors took a roll call of all the workers and everyone was evacuated to safety but most of the materials that were destroyed were to be used in the final stages of making block boads,” said Murage.
Murage added that there was quick response from the Nakuru County fire brigade, police, the Kenya Forest Servise and members of the public.
Among the materials lost include explosive chemicals and timber chippings.
The manager said that a comprehensive statement on the cause of the fire will be issued once investigations are completed.
