An unexpected fire broke out at one of the stalls at Makongeni estate along Jogoo road destroying business premises on the evening of Sunday,September 18.
The fire which is believed to have been caused by poor connection of electricity claimed property whose estimated value is yet to be confirmed.
According to eye witnesses, the inferno broke out from one stall that deals with furniture and timber products before spreading to nearby stalls and razed them down.
Efforts of the well-wishers to stop further damage bore no fruits and it was only until the county fire brigade arrived that the fire was contained.
Poor electrical connections have been linked to a number of fire incidences especially in the capital's slum areas despite the efforts of the police in urging residents to have proper connections.
