An inferno has claimed property worth millions of shillings after it destroyed shops at Musaiga Place next to Nakumatt Prestige in Nairobi's Kilimani.
A restaurant, a barber shop and a salon were completely razed down by the fire that occurred at midday.
No injuries or deaths were reported.
According to witnesses, the fire started at Musaiga restaurant from what is thought be an electrical fault.
“It was a huge fire; there are gas cylinders in that restaurant so there were explosions,” a witness said.
“It started a few minutes past noon. I think it spread very fast because of hot weather," said a police officer.
Nairobi county firefighters managed to put out the fire after about 2pm.
