Eyewitnesses during the fire outbreak said the fire broke out on Thursday morning around 8a.m. and spread fast to resident houses making it difficult to salvage any property.

According to Florance Anyango, a victim to the fire property worth over Sh50, 000 belonging to her was lost in the fire. She added that she heard screams coming from the direction of the side of the plot and on reaching there, found fire spreading fast. Anyango said the neighbours tried to help in putting out the fire but it was all in vain.

“We have lost our property and we look forward to getting help from the county government,” she added.

Kilimani OCPD, Peter Katam confirmed the incident saying the source of the fire is yet to be established and investigations were ongoing but it was suspected that one of the traders in the area could have left a burning jiko, which caused the fire.

He added that so far no fatality or injury was reported in the incident.
