A huge fire on Friday 8, 2016 evening destroyed a dormitory in Masii boys secondary school Machakos county. 

The fire that started at around 5.30 pm was reported by students as they took their supper where they saw smoke coming out of the Simba dormitory. 

The police that are just a few meters away from the school together with residents of Masii town rushed to the school and started putting out the fire. 

Later, Machakos county fire brigades arrived but nothing was rescued, 83 students had lost all their belongings. No one was injured in the inferno. 

Over the last few weeks, numerous schools have rioted and destroyed property worth millions.

This has led the ministry of education to issue a stern warning to students involved in destroying school property. 

The area Mp Hon Eng Vincent Musyoka was scheduled to visit the school  with other leaders to assess the situation in the school.
