According to Jua Kali workers, the fire started from one of the shops around 1:25 pm on Friday.
"The fire started from one of the Jua Kali shops and the flames are spreading too fast to other structures. We have called help from the county," said Samuel Morikwa.
Morikwa said no casualties have been reported because most of the workers had gone for lunch when the fire broke.
He said property valued at over Sh1 million may be destroyed if firefighters from the county will not respond quickly.
"Property valued at Sh1 million may be lost if the fire is not put off quickly. the cause of the fire has not been established," he said.
By the time of going to the press, Kisii County firefighters were not at the scene.
