Two people suffered serious burns on Sunday night following a fire incident caused by a gas explosion in Ndenderu area, Kiambu County.
According to police, one of the cylinders leaked and caused the fire and a huge explosion, injuring the two who were part of a group working at an illegal gas filling station.
They said an engine from the county government arrived at the scene and contained the fire.
Police further pointed out that the workers at the station that has been operating secretly, were attempting to fill two gas cylinders when fire broke out.
The two were rushed to Ndenderu Health Centre for treatment and later referred to Kiambu Hospital for further treatment.
It is said that there are many filling stations operating in the area illegally and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) officials are planning to launch a raid at the area to deal with illegal gas refilling stations operators.
