Property of unknown value was on Tuesday morning destroyed at Daraja Mbili market when fire gutted down stalls storing traders goods.
The fire that broke out at 4.00am on Monday morning spread quickly leaving behind ashes.
An eye witness, Stephen Mogaka said they were sleeping at their usual joint when he saw a huge fire at the market place.
“I quickly awoke my colleagues and we rushed to the scene. However, with hardly any containers to fetch water, there was very little we could do and we only managed to put out the fire after all the property in the buildings had been destroyed,” said Mogaka, a street urchin.
Irene Barongo, a local said their efforts to call the County Fire Brigade bore no fruits for they only arrived after the fire and all the property stored inside the building had been destroyed.
“The county failed to dispatch the fire fighter on time hence leading to property loss as the fire was huge and water was scarce,” she said.
The fire comes just afew weeks after fire destroyed property of unknown value at the market.
