Resident of Kuresoi shopping centre are gathering small shells of their former property after fierce inferno engulfed several timber houses turning them into ashes.
The property worth millions of shilling went down in flames and efforts by residents to put off the fire where futile forcing them to watch the blaze at a distance.
According to area residents, at least 23 rental and three business houses were damaged and nothing was salvaged.
Nathan Kibet told reporters at the scene that the fire which started from one of the house spread quickly overwhelming locals’ efforts to put it off.
He said a posho mill and a tyre shop were among business property that was burnt down calling called on the Nakuru County government to allocate a fire engine as a way of equipping area residents in disaster preparedness.
Kibet said fire accidents have been occurring in the area during dry spells and residents use manual effort to fight fierce fire.
Nathan claimed that roads in the area are pathetic hampering transportation of goods and service.
“The fire engine from Timsales arrived very late owning to the poor state of roads in our area. We urge the Nakuru county government to move in speed and fix all impassable roads,” he added.
