Opposition leaders Raila Odinga should relieve Orange Democratic Secretary General Ababu Namwamba duties or risk losing 2017 polls, observes Chitago –Borabu MCA Albert Oino.
Mr Namwamba recently accused a section of party hierarchy of allegedly frustrating his efforts in reforming the party, a move that has led to yet again another storm in the Orange party.
And on Tuesday, Mr Oino accused Namwamba of allegedly holding the party at ransom and insisted that he was an impediment towards Odinga’s 2017 victory.
“I have listened enough of Namwamba’s theatrics and I think time has come for him to be relieved duties. He is holding the party at ransom at the time when leadership is required. He is a great impediment to progress in the party,” he said.
“As Secretary-General, he had all the opportunities to bring fundamental reforms to the party but he has been missing from key party activities such as IEBC protests and the Okoa Kenya campaign. This shows how he absconded his duties when we needed him most,” he added.
Oino said that the embattled Secretary General was derailing the party’s focus on 2017 polls and insisted that he should be sacked to pave the way for young people willing to serve the party.
“You cannot be the party’s SG then you claim you have been shortchanged. He failed the party and Odinga should show him an exit door. We cannot waste time solving a problem which someone created for himself yet we have serious things we can do,” he said.
However, Namwamba had recently vowed to remain in the party and fight from within contrary to reports that he was considering an exit.
