Maiuni mixed secondary school students went on rampage on Monday morning burning down one of the school dormitories.

The school is in Mathingau sub-location in Yatta sub-county. 

Confirming the incident Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang Chang'ach said that he was notified at around 4am by the school deputy principal that boys borders had gone on rampage burning down school dormitory which hosted 40 students. 

Chang'ach said that nothing was salvaged during the incidence and property worth almost Sh1.5m was destroyed. 

"I was notified on the school burning by the school deputy principal after which I took action and reported to the scene accompanied by police officers. All boys escaped after committing the crime," he said. 

Girls boarders in the school were asleep when it happened reasons known by themselves according to deputy principal. 

OCPD Chang'ach said that investigations will commence immediately and the arsonists will be brought to book. No one was injured during the incidence.
