County Government of Kitui offices were razed down by fire Saturday night, destroying crucial records and equipment worth millions of shillings.
Tourism and Culture, Human Resources and Payroll, Education and ICT as well as Minerals and Natural resources are departments affected.
They are razed down to the ground in the inferno which went on till Sunday morning.
Reports indicate that there were no firefighters present to contain the inferno.
The county workers and residents watched helplessly as the building went up in flames.
County Police Boss Joseph Nthenge confirmed the incident, saying that the arsonists might have caused.
The procurement and finance departments were the most affected, with a lot of crucial documents being burnt to ashes in the inferno.
The fire raised eyebrows to many, as it occurred three days the detectives of Ethic Anticorruption Commission visited the offices on a mission of investigating the alleged sh. 5 billion which involved county government officials.
The investigation to establish the root cause of the fire is underway.
