Police have begun investigations after a fire burnt crucial documents at the crime office of the Industrial Area Police Station.
The incident took place at midday on Monday.
What caused the fire is still unknown but it is said to have started from a store at the station. The store contained very personal documents and files of different crimes committed over the years.
The fire spread very quickly and almost got to the cells where inmates were but luckily, it was contained in time.
The Nairobi police boss, Japheth Koome commented on the matter stating that the fire spread from the store to the toilets as well as some offices. He, however, confirmed that no causalities were reported.
“The place affected was the store, which had many files on various issues at the division. No injury was reported. We are investigating the matter to know the cause,” he said.
The police boss went ahead to warn Kenyans against making various assumptions until the investigations were thoroughly done and completed.
