Several shops and houses were on Saturday morning razed down by fire in Baba Dogo, Ruaraka constituency, Nairobi county
According to residents, the fire started at 7.30am from a furniture shop.
They said fire flames spread too fast to other nearby shops and houses.
A resident Aggrey Opiyo said the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
"We have never experienced fire incidents in the area. We suspect this was as a result of electric fault", Opiyo said.
Some residents tried to put off the fire as others salvaged property and goods from the iron sheet structures.
The residents accused Nairobi county firefighters of taking too long to respond.
"We raised the alarm immediately fire broke but the fire engine arrived 2 hours later after we contained fire", one resident said.
The angry residents sent fire engine away.
