Reports indicate that the incident could be an inside job following alleged major rebellion from the students, staff and community against the leadership of the principal Mutali Chesebe.Anonymous sources said Chesebe was promoted from being a Kiswahili teacher at Alliance Boys 3 years ago to head the national school, and failed to ensure any positive changes.Besides Tenwek, Wangapala Boys School in Homabay and Bishop Sulumeti Girls' in Kakamega were also burned Saturday morning.
