CORD leader Raila Odinga on Sunday urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire his Deputy William Ruto over the National Youth Service scam.
Odinga said Ruto should take responsibility for the NYS scandal since his close ally Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and aide Farouk Kibet have been linked to the scandal
Farouk Kibet and Kipchumba Murkomen have been severally mentioned by the former Cabinet Secretary for devolution Anne Waiguru to have received money from the devolution ministry, an accusation they have vehemently denied.
The two are reported to have received cash from NYS suspects and have recorded statements with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
“Kibet received cash from the ministry of devolution, we need to know on whose behalf and exactly how much he received, Ruto cannot continue to walk around and attack other suspects when his own office has been linked to the scandal,” said Raila.
Raila said Ruto needs to tell investigators what he knows about the NYS scam.
“Either the President cracks the whip or he tells us if they are together. On whose behalf was Kibet collecting the cash? It is clear that the people in the dock are small fish,” said Raila.
Raila called for a lifestyle audit of Ruto so that the public can understand where Ruto gets the millions he is distributing.
