The witnessed drama between the interior cabinet secretary, Joseph Nkaissery and some other government officials on the legality of firearm possession has led to Nkaissery to form a firearm licensing member committee.
The mandate of the committee will be to see and vet people who want to acquire firearms and revoke licenses of those who misuse the firearms.
Nkaissery had ordered Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu and the Mombasa governor, Hassan Joho to return their firearms. The two, however, said they had never threatened any person or misused the firearms, therefore, would not hand them over.
In a gazette notice, Nkaissery has named nine people who will be members of the license board. The members will vet all the 6,500 members of public who are licensed to have the firearms.
