The Kaimosi Boys' High School fraternity in Vihiga woke up to the sad news of a burning dormitory on the morning of Friday July 15.
The school becomes the second in the county to go up in flames after Givole Secondary School recently went the same way while it adds to the large number of institutions torched across the country.
Like in the previous cases, the source of the fire is yet to be established though rumours have it that arson attacks in schools are perpetrated by the students themselves leading to destruction of property and health hazards. The Givole incident saw 11 students being rushed to the hospital.
Others blamed the rampaging fires on the Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i citing the revised new term dates as the main factor as it is alleged the CS did so without consulting stakeholders in the education sector.
