Governor Nyagarama has recently been under criticism from a section of residents and top leaders from the region who accuse him of incompetence.

But the MCA who did not want to be named given the close ties he enjoys with the county First Family, expressed his concerns over Mrs Nyagarama and urged the governor to tame her for his own good.

“Sometimes it’s good to say the truth because I feel time has come. The First Lady is behind the resistance the governor is fighting daily and his dwindling popularity," said the MCA.

“She is fond of dictating who should get tenders and if her close friends and family members are not awarded, the tenders are cancelled just to pave way for her preferred people to take them. This hinders growth and brings about the anxiety we are witnessing,” he added.

He also blamed Mrs Nyagarama of precipitating a cold relationship between the county government officials and many other elected leaders from the region.

“Nyagarama must draw lines that his wife can reach for his own good. Many leaders are avoiding him and usually complain that they are intimidated by the wife. I can’t tell you for free that things aren’t good and Governor should learn fast,” he said.

Efforts to reach the First Lady for immediate comment were futile since she could not respond to text message or calls by the time of filing the story, but the claims will no doubt spark another fierce debate among residents.
