Speaking in Nairobi in reaction to a report on maternal and child deaths, Mrs. Kenyatta noted that much is yet to be done to curb the current trend.

In a recent report dubbed 'Ending Preventable Still Births' and published in a medical journal, Kenya still has a high record of still births. The report states that in every 1000 deliveries, 23 of them are still births. This translates to, at least, 96 children born dead on a daily basis in Kenya, a figure that is by far too high for the country.

The first lady further assured Kenyan families that her Beyond Zero Campaign shall continue until the statistics drop down to zero. Mrs. Kenyatta expressed that maternal health remains true to her vision to see Kenya become a country that is in a position to provide quality healthcare to its mothers and children.

Noting the challenges in the Beyond Zero campaign, the first lady called on like-minded citizens to join hands with her so as to reach up to the remotest places in Kenya.
